All Day

abseiling canyoning climbing

Our External Training Officer has arranged a two days Self Rescue lev. 2 training course with the Blue Mountains Climbing School for honing trip leaders and aspiring trip leaders’ skills.

This course gives you the skills and knowledge you need to:

  • Plan a belay to facilitate rescue
  • Belay and lower a climber or canyoner from above
  • Apply principles of mechanical advantage to rescue scenarios
  • Make wise decisions in an outdoor cliff environment
  • Efficiently respond to a non-routine situation in a multi-pitch environment

In order to attend the course, participants must have basic knowledge of self rescue techniques including:

  • Safely ascend and descend a rope using a back-up safety system
  • Efficiently transition from descending to ascending and vice versa

  • Self Rescue lev. 2 training

As most the cost of the course is subsidized by the club via the External Training budget, participants will have to contribute $100 per person.

Note that this is a two day course, each day starts at 8am in or near Katoomba. Participants will need to arrange early transportation from Sydney and/or accommodation in the Blue Mountains. A separate email thread will be started to arrange the logistics.

While the course is limited to 6 people, I am opening registrations to a few extra participants to handle last-minute cancellations.

Participants are closed for this activity.
