Date(s) - Sunday 17 September, 2017
I’m planning on walking from Otford station to figure 8 pools on Sunday the 17/9. As this trip is private it isn’t covered by club insurance. This walk is relatively easy except in a few places but it should suit beginners/intermediates. The pools themselves are picturesque however they can only be visited at low tide otherwise they are underwater. The pools are on a rock shelf metres away from crashing waves so you should understand the risks associated with this trip before you sign up (please read the information in the first link below). It just happens that next Sunday, the tide, swell and weather should be ideal for a trip down there. Low tide is around 12pm so l aim to get there around midday, that means leaving central around 8.30 am. The walk to the pools should take around 2.5 hours so we should have ample time at the pools before we have to leave due to the rising tide. The walk back should take 3 hours where we will get a train back to central. This trip may be cancelled depending on the weather and the swell on the day. Please tell me your bushwalking/hiking experience in the comments when signing up.
Things required for this trip:
At least 2 litres of water
Comfortable and grippy walking shoes, the walk down is slippery
